How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Seriously I could go on and on about Greenwich, but don't worry I'm keeping my posts bitesize. So instead let me share with you my must see hits in Greenwich. [I've put a map, with the walking route at the bottom]

Come out of the 'Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich' DLR station and first take a quick look at the actual Cutty Sark (ironically it's next to the station). It's a beauty and though a big tourist attraction, it's definitely worth putting your face up to the glass to see the hull (bottom) of the boat.

Make sure you take a walk through The Old Royal Naval College, it's beautiful and literally transports you back in time! It's gorgeous backdrops are regularly used for film and TV and its not surprise as to why! Today it's a Music College and sometimes you can hear some fab Jazz or maybe even one of Beethoven's concertos coming out of the classrooms.

The Painted Hall Ceiling aka the 'Sistine Chapel of the UK' is absolutely worth having a look at. As they are doing some cleaning and conserving work in there at the moment, you can pay to do a 60 minute tour of the ceiling and actually go right up to it, or you can simply just pop your head inside, either way it's a must. The church opposite the Painted Hall, The Chapel of St Peter and St Paul is also beautiful and definitely worth a quick peek.

After checking out the Old Royal Naval College, I like to take a stroll in Greenwich Park and walk up the slightly mammoth hill to the Royal Observatory and Planetarium.

The Planetarium show is wonderful and fairly inexpensive if you have the time, also in the basement you can check out this year's Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition (free and some of the pictures are just stunning and out of this world, literally). You can also see the Meridian line, where time itself is measured from (if you don't want to pay the £12 fee to put your feet either side of the line you can also see it just looking through the fence).
After feeling on top of the world, or London at least, I would recommend grabbing a treat or some delicious world foods from Greenwich Market (usually GF options too), which is back down the hill. There's lots of entrances to the market but here's one of them.

Greenwich Market has delicious food stalls in it, but also lots of local art work, knick-knacks and baby boutiques. It also has one of my favourite statues in the centre of it.

If you are heading to Greenwich with kids, make sure you check out my post on a fab (and free) children's immersive play area at the Maritime Museum.
Closest tube station: Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich (DLR STATION).
